The Tribeca Film Festival was founded in 2001 by Craig Hatkoff, Jane Rosenthal and most notably Robert De Niro.  This iconic film festival was created in an effort to generate cultural and economic growth in Manhattan after the 9/11 attacks.  The first Tribeca Film Festival took place in May 2002.

The Tribeca Film Festival held in the Tribeca neighborhood of Manhattan.  The festival presents a variety of independent films and showcases new and established independent filmmakers, actors, visionaries, and people who help in the film production industry from around the world.

The film festival does more than present independent films.  The entire process of filmmaking is celebrated, new ideas, new techniques in production, sound, music, acting and more are discussed during the festival on panels, exhibits and live performances.

The Tribeca Film Festival designates winners in a variety of different categories of film making, including Shorts, Features, TV, New Online Work and Immersive.  The film festival also has a category called, ‘The Tribeca X Award’ which recognizes storytelling supported by a brand that combines entertainment and advertising.

The 2019 Tribeca Film Festival will be a great chance to see some great films, listen to exciting discussions about movies and media, and even to spot some of your favorite celebrities.

The film festival is a great way to rub shoulders with other film lovers, film makers and you may even get to meet a film star or two.

Because the Tribeca Film Festival is a very popular New York Event, the best way to get tickets to the showings is to buy your tickets online, in advance.

There are passes available called the ‘Hudson Pass’ which allow you to see any film or panel at any time, however the Hudson Pass is a bit pricey at $1,250.00 (2018 price), there are a few other less expensive packages available.
